Much to our delight, two David Milligan Selections wines earned 92 points<\/strong> in the October 2018 Wine Spectator.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

THE FIRST:\u00a0Domaine du Vieux Lazaret<\/a> Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2015<\/strong><\/h4>\n

James Molesworth calls the red “alluring,” with a “silky finish” that “is sneaky long” with a “light sanguine echo.” The Quiot family’s been in Chateauneuf-du-Pape since 1748. Through marriage and friendship and a few acquisitions, this property now comprises 38 parcels across Chateauneuf, giving it a great diversity of terroir which adds complexity to the wine. Quiot’s one of the few producers that use all 13 grapes allowed in the appellation. Molesworth recommends drinking Domaine du Vieux Lazaret\u00a02015<\/strong> now through 2025.<\/p>\n

THE SECOND: Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Combes D’Arnevel 2015<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n

“Fresh” is\u00a0how Molesworth describes this red, with its “streak of cassis, blood orange and cherry notes racing through.” And Quiot made only 1,400 cases of this wine, making it a real treat to get your hands on. Les Combes D’Arnevel<\/strong> is the name of a 20-acre parcel of vines in the West of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It has a unique terroir made up of large limestone chunks resembling the classic galet stones found elsewhere in Chateauneuf. Before the Quiot family purchased it in 1864, Les Combes D\u2019Arnevel was communal woodland with only a small vineyard. For years, the Quiot family used the area just for hunting and there’s still a small hunting lodge there. Molesworth recommends drinking Les Combes d’Arnevel 2015<\/strong> now through 2025.<\/p>\n
